Sickle Cell is a disease passed down through families. The red blood cells which are normally shaped like a disc take on a sickle or crescent shape. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body.

Sickle Cell is all over the world and not just African Americans can get it anymore. Yes, it is most common in African Americans, but somewhere down the blood line of family members anybody can get it. Sickle Cell is not a joke and should be taken very seriously.
